Appointed Times

$229.00Price

This piece explores the idea of designated times. Think about how many  birds have flown through a certain patch of sky over the course of time, layers upon layers of flight occupying the same place throughout history.

This idea is represented here in layers and design. The birds are overlapping to indicate that their flights are occurring at different times. Also the design on the birds clues us in that there is a growing fullness being represented.

Only one bird has no lines on it (can you spot it?). He was the first in flight. The subsequent birds have a few lines, marking their orientation in time. As time progresses, the lines increase, again tying the lines to the notches on a timeline. The more notches, the more time has passed. Eventually the lines and time will reach fullness.

It begs the question of the purpose of timing. Why was that bird born at that time? And why the timing of the ones that came before and the ones that follow behind? Of course this is about more than birds. Why are we here, now? How do we fit into the purpose of the fullness of time?

Understanding that time is moving towards something, we then ask how that applies to us? The fact that we are here now means something. We somehow fit into the grand scheme of the purpose of life and the fullness of time.

“Appointed Times” draws us into the discussion of why we are here in this time and directs us to the only One who has the answers.

This is a mixed media piece which includes gallery wrapped canvas (16x12x1.5"), oil paint, metallic oil paint, cold-pressed watercolor paper, graphite, gel medium, and varnish. This style of collage painting helps express the layers, textures and varying elements that come together to tell the story with more depth and interest than paint and canvas alone.

The painting comes unframed unless you purchase a framing option but is painted on all sides if you choose to display it unframed.

Paintings usually ship within 1-2 weeks unframed, 2-3 if you choose the framing option. Shipping costs are included (approx. $30 value) and additional shipping costs of the frame are wrapped into that price.

About this collection:

The Fullness of Time Collection explores what it means to live within the bounds of time. What is the purpose of time? What are we filling our time with? What is time moving towards? When we better understand these concepts we are able to move through life in agreement with time. We start to understand right moments, proper perspective, and future fulfillment. This collection highlights different aspects of the fullness of time.
