Waiting -Collage Oil Painting 12x12"

Waiting -Collage Oil Painting 12x12"

$200.00Price

Waiting. I have such a love/hate relationship with that word. Naturally impatient, I struggle with waiting, and yet, some of my greatest gifts have come through periods of suffering and waiting. This painting is so important to me because it recognizes that tension (the open, empty hand) and yet, it hints at what is to come. I see the lines moving towards the open palm, I see the hallowedness of the waiting hand, the accents and embellishments all point me towards the future moment of receiving. THAT is hope that you can hold on to. That is a true, active, expectant waiting. And that is what this painting speaks to me.

This is a mixed media piece which includes gallery wrapped canvas (12x12x1.5"), oil paint, metallic oil paint, cold-pressed water color paper, graphite, gel medium, and varnish. This collage painting helps express the layers, textures and varying elements that come together to tell the story with more depth, richness and interest than paint and canvas alone.

The painting comes unframed and is painted on all sides. You may select a frame for an additional cost. The frame adds approximately 1" to each side.

Paintings usually ship within 1-2 weeks unframed, 2-3 if framed. Shipping costs are included and the additional cost for shipping the frame is included in that price.

About this collection:

H A N D S

There is a moment when an ordinary gesture or a common movement becomes something more. When a hand is offered and received, when palms open in surrender, or a fist loosens—then these everyday movements become holy. They become more than they were.

Certain positions can represent something greater and deeper than the eye can distinguish. These are the moments that I have attempted to capture in this series. The position of the hands may be common, but the meaning and motivation behind them is hallowed. The ordinary transcends into the sacred, but so quickly it is easily missed. Hopefully these pieces recognize and mark these hidden, holy moments.
